Program Overview

Prototypes

In ProtoLoop, a prototype can be a simple form with only a button or a complex and intricate development project with multiple user interfaces.

A ProtoLoop prototype is a collection of:

  • forms (frame, dialog box, etc...) added to the structure
  • controls (button, label, text field, combo box, as well as calendar, calculator, etc... and plugins ) placed on forms in the composer
  • event listeners on controls and forms in the structure that enables interactivity
  • image files of different formats (jpg, gif, png)
  • documentation files with dynamically generated screenshots images.
  • notes that will display while stakeholders review the prototype.
  • feedbacks that help refine the design at each iteration.

Reuse

ProtoLoop offers different ways to reuse existing work::
  • Templates: You can start with existing templates or save all or part of a prototype as a template. It can not only save time but provide consistency throughout a prototype or several projects. As more templates become available to the community through collaboration, it will broaden your base of existing work to reuse.
  • Clipboard: Items saved to the Clipboard are kept for other sessions.

Design

ProtoLoop Designer lets you design the complete software prototype. It is easy to add controls on forms and fine-tune their properties. Forms can easily be interconnected and activated via menus or buttons. A form or the complete prototype can be launched quickly for preview at anytime without compilation. You can even set one of many looks to the prototype. Add notes of explanation to components that will display as 'bubbles' to the particpants. Generate documentation on each visual component and dynamically create screenshots. Once ready for review, deploy to participants directly from the program.

Participate

With the ProtoLoop Designer program, participants can preview the prototype, read the previously-created documentation, annotate each visual component and send their feedbacks from within the program.

Communicate

ProtoLoop Designer manages the various comments or feedbacks committed by participants. Feedbacks can be sorted by participant, by object, by date or by priority. Incorporate the proposed changes or modifications in the prototype and reiterate the collaboration cycle. The documentation can be improved and completed.

Collaborate

No only can you share projects with participants, but you can also share application or component templates with other ProtoLoop Designer users. This collaboration can benefit the whole community.
