How to Edit

Since prototyping is a work in progress, you will find that you need to edit several things as you go. You may need to edit the text or title of structure items, the name of clipboard items, the documentation of items, the name of organizations or groups in contacts and more.

Let's see how you can edit in different tab panels.

Composer Structure Properties Documentation
Clipboard Organizations Groups

Composer

Controls with text (such as a label, a button, checkbox, etc...) added to the composer or form title can be edited in-place. The exception is the text of a titled border or the text of a tab. Although you see their text in the composer, you need to edit it in Properties.

Also, you cannot edit the menus of a menu bar in the composer even though you see their text. You need to edit in Structure or in Properties. The same goes for items within a toolbar.

Edit a title Edit an item text
Select the form title bar Select the control (example with a label)

Choose one of the following options

  • with the keyboard, press the spacebar

  • double-click with the mouse

Start in-place editing the title Start in-place editing. In the case of a label, as you type, it resizes automatically.
Press the Enter key

Structure

A Structure tree item displays an icon with text. This text can be an id, a name, a title or a text. (Prototype and Forms tree items cannot be edited)

If the text is an id, it is generated dynamically by Designer and is non-editable. If the text is a name, this name can be edited in Properties. Only when the item text is a title attribute or a text attribute can it be edited in-place.

Editing an item title or text in the tree
Select the tree item in Structure. In this example, we select the frame. 'Prototype Title' is the title text of frame so it can be edited.

Choose one of the following options
